Waterfind is proud to be the nominated broker for the Aboriginal Water Entitlements Program (Program) in the Lower Murray, Mid Murray, Upper Murray, Murrumbidgee, Gwydir, and Namoi regions. The program’s first stage is now underway, providing entitlement holders in these regions with another opportunity to sell their permanent water entitlements through Waterfind.
The $100 million Murray–Darling Basin Aboriginal Water Entitlements Program is a Commonwealth Government initiative aimed at enabling Basin First Nations communities to gain greater ownership of surface water entitlements to support their cultural, social, economic, spiritual, and environmental needs.
Through the Program’s Strategic Purchasing Framework, water entitlements will be acquired across the Basin utilising water brokers to facilitate and present purchase opportunities to the program. These entitlements will remain within the consumptive pool. Engaging water brokers allows the program to operate similarly to other water market participants more flexible and responsive market participation.
